Our Story
Two islands, two rich culinary traditions, united under one roof in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Two Kitchens Brought Together
At Mis Raices Restaurant, our story begins with the blending of two vibrant Caribbean cultures. Eddie, born and raised in Cuba, grew up surrounded by the savory aromatics of slow-roasted lechón, tender ropa vieja, and garlic yucca. Ana, hailing from Puerto Rico, brought the comforting traditions of rich mofongo, golden tostones, and simmered beans seasoned with aromatic sofrito.
When Eddie and Ana met, they realized their passion for food was rooted in the exact same reverence for home cooking and family gatherings. Bringing their kitchens together was not just a culinary dream, but a celebration of their shared heritage.
Our restaurant logo honors this very union. The design visually bridges the sister islands of Cuba and Puerto Rico, symbolizing how deep roots and authentic cooking create a place where everyone feels at home.
“Cuba and Puerto Rico are two wings of the same bird.”

We believe that true Caribbean food cannot be rushed. At our Teaneck kitchen, every dish is prepared from scratch using time-honored family techniques and fresh ingredients.
From chopping fresh herbs for our homemade sofrito each morning to slow-marinating meats for hours before roasting, Eddie and Ana ensure that every plate served at Mis Raices carries the genuine flavor of the islands.
